Therapy that fits around the rest of your life

The most common reason people put off therapy isn't doubt about whether it helps. It's logistics — the commute, the hour off work, childcare, a rural address, a week that simply has no room in it.

Telehealth removes most of that. A session from your own home, on your lunch break, or from anywhere private with a decent connection is still a full session.

I'm Kevin B. Stachowiak, MSW, LMSW, and I see clients both in person in Grand Blanc and by secure video. The work itself doesn't change; only the room does.

How telehealth works here

Licensed states current as of August 2026. Because a therapist can generally only work with clients physically located in a state where they hold a license, please let me know if you'll be travelling.

Sessions run through the secure telehealth platform built into SimplePractice, the same system that handles scheduling, documents, and messaging. You'll get a link before each appointment — no account setup gymnastics, and an app if you'd rather use one.

Everything else is the same as in-person work: the same approaches, the same session structure, the same fees, and the same insurance coverage in most cases. See fees & insurance →

Telehealth isn't the right choice in every situation. If a concern needs in-person work, or if you're in crisis, I'll say so directly and we'll make a different plan. This practice is not an emergency service — if you need urgent help, call or text 988 or call 911.

Good to know

Telehealth therapy: common questions

Is telehealth as effective as meeting in person?

Many people find video sessions work as well for them as being in the room; others prefer in-person, and some concerns are better addressed face to face. It isn't the right fit for everyone or every situation, and we can talk honestly about whether it suits what you're working on.

What do I need to join a session?

A private space, a reliable internet connection, and a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera. Sessions run through SimplePractice's secure telehealth platform — you'll get a link, and there's an app if you prefer.

Which states can you see clients in?

Michigan plus 14 additional states: DE, VT, NJ, VA, TX, ME, FL, MN, CT, WI, OR, IL, WA and ID (current as of August 2026). Therapists can generally only work with clients physically located in a state where they hold a license, so where you are during the session is what matters — not where you usually live.

Can I mix telehealth and in-person sessions?

Yes, and many clients do. Some come into the Grand Blanc office when they can and switch to video when travel, weather, illness, or a full week makes that difficult.
